Was told I have High Cholesterol and put on pills?

I have pitting edema in my legs Dr gave me a blood work up and called and said my cholesterol is high and has me to start taking Lipitor 40 mgs a day he did'nt say how high it was but he told me to take the Lipitor and do another blood test in 6 weeks.
