Pepto Bismol on your face? As an acne cure?

A coworker mine recommended I use Pepto Bismol on my face for my little break outs. She explained you use a small amount and apply with a cotton ball. I should have asked this before I did it, but now my face smells like those chalky valentine hearts and I'm a bit worried this might not be true, and could possibly lead to a rash. Do you know anything about this? If it does work, how long should I leave it on? Is overnight appropriate? Thanks so much.
