What oil for my motorcycle engine??

I have a 2 stroke 250cc scrambler, that have recently bought. I changed the top end gaskets and whilst the head was off i noticed that the crank looked pretty dry. Is this normal? as i can only find a filling hole for gear box oil. What actually lubricates the crank? or should it be dry? Thanks for any help.
